"KNOWLEDGE"
Hosea 4:6..."My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee"
Another verse we all know!!
We are living in a world filled with destruction on every level. Yet, it is overflowing with knowledge.
Well listen to this...I just looked up the meaning of knowledge on the computer. I clicked on several but one was the Wikipedia. It goes into detail of meanings. It starts off with the "Oxford English Dictionary"...it then says, "there is however no single agreed definition of knowledge presently, not even any prospect of one"
I had no idea knowledge was such a complex subject!
In the beginning, before Adam and Eve ate from the tree of "The Knowledge of Good and Evil", their knowledge consisted of knowing God. During this time they lived a life of perfection. But after eating from the tree, their lives changed dramatically. They now not only knew "God" (Good) but they also knew "Satan" (Evil). The earth became a combination of knowledge.
This again leads to the scripture I seem to use almost every time I write:
Deut. 30:15 & 19.."I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life"
We are faced with choices everyday, we must becomes aware of these choices and choose according to "The Word".
Back to "My people perish for lack of knowledge".....
The knowledge we lack is "The Word of God".....and not just knowledge of the words in the Book but knowledge of the "Word Himself"
Hebrews 11:6.."But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
This year 2011, lets become diligent and seek "HIM"
Here are a few scriptures on knowledge:
In Isaiah 10:1-2..."And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: (2)And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord"
Isaiah 5:13.."Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."
Habakkuk 2:14.."For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
Colossians 1:9-10.."For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (10)That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God"
Colossians 2:3Amp.."In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden."
Colossians 3:10.."And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him"
2 Peter 1:2-3.."Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. (3)According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue."
2 Peter 3:18.."But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen"
The world has definitely grown in knowledge...look where it is today and where is was 200 years ago. We have come a long way baby!!
But with all this knowledge has come confusion and destruction (death)....
Look around, what do you see...listen, what are you hearing....
Matt. 13:15-16.."For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (16)But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear."
Are we verse 15 or verse 16?
1 Corinthians 11:31.."For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged."
Time to take a look at the knowledge we have or don't have. Time to take a look at what we are seeing and hearing.
In Revelation we are told 8 times.."he that hath an ear let him hear"
2:7..2:11..2:17..2:29..3:6..3:13..3:22..13:9
God is speaking to us through His Word...John 1:1.."In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."......John 1:14.."And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Let's continue reading and hearing, God reveals everything through His Word.
